Cashmere is known for being one of the softest fibers in the world. Its thin hairs mean that it can be woven into incredibly soft, luxurious and long lasting garments.
Cashmere doesn't come from a sheep like you may think, but from the cashmere goat. While a sheep can produce at least 3 kilos of wool each year, a cashmere goat will only give you around 200 grams.
The supply is severely limited because of the tiny amount each goat produces. The fibers can only be collected once a year, it's why the cost is much higher than other materials.
